Andrew Van de Kamp (Shawn Pyfrom) Bio

Character Bio

Andrew takes after his mother, Bree in every way; he's smart, conniving and determined to get his way. With two such clever schemers under one roof, it's no surprise they nearly brought about each other's downfall so many times.
When she learned that he was gay, the highly religious Bree strongly disapproved. The wrangling continued as Andrew tried to get his inheritance ahead of schedule from his late father, while Bree joined up with Andrew's boyfriend, Justin, to keep him from moving in with his grandparents.

An uneasy truce had been reached, but that fell apart disastrously after Andrew seduced her boyfriend, who happened to be a recovering sex addict. A shattered Bree drove Andrew out of town, leaving him at the side of the road with only a backpack and some money.

After some time spent turning tricks, Andrew returned to the fold. He and his mother made up so well, in fact, that he went to work for her after she became a successful caterer and cookbook author. He kept his latest relationship from her, however, although he was already living with his future husband, Alex. Bree not only welcomed Alex to the family, she bought a house on Wisteria Lane to keep the boys nearby.

About Shawn Pyfrom

We’re well aware of how tempestuous the relationship between a teenager and a parent can be, but Shawn Pyfrom and Marcia Cross take mother-son sparring to a whole new jaw-dropping level! Pyfrom stars as Andrew Van de Kamp, son of Desperate Housewives’ Bree Hodge.

Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Pyfrom started out appearing in numerous commercials in Florida. He eventually booked Disney's Sing Me a Story and the Tampa series The Reppies, which started his climb to success. After working on such projects as HBO's From the Earth to the Moon and the syndicated drama The Cape, Pyfrom packed up his bi-coastal lifestyle and moved to Los Angeles with his mother and two siblings.

An exceptionally versatile young actor, Pyfrom has appeared in an episode of 7th Heaven as a child with Tourette Syndrome, in an Emmy-nominated episode of Touched by an Angel and in the ABC Movie-of-the-Week, Come On Get Happy: The Partridge Family Story, about the Partridge Family series, portraying the affable and very red-headed lead character, Danny Bonaduce. His convincing turn as the young Bonaduce won him a nomination for The Hollywood Reporter's "Young Star Award" for Best Actor.
Prior to landing Desperate Housewives, Pyfrom had recurring roles on CBS' comedy, Still Standing, with Jami Gertz, and the ABC hit, 8 Simple Rules. He has also appeared on the popular shows Malcolm in the Middle, Reba, The Drew Carey Show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, LA Doctors, Chicago Hope, Jesse, Ellen and The Division, and internationally as a recurring lead on the Canadian hit, My Hometown. Film credits include Pay It Forward with Helen Hunt and Kevin Spacey and Disney's Max Keeble's Big Move.
